2015 COOLER IN THE MOUNTAINS CONCERT SERIES LINEUP announced

7 weeks of Free Music at Killington Resort

Killington, Vt — Killington’s free concert series is returning for its sixth year, and the Town has announced the complete lineup of musical acts for 2015. The Cooler in the Mountains summer concert series, presented by Long Trail Brewing, kicks off July 18th and runs for seven Saturdays, featuring national acts straddling a variety of musical genres.

“This year’s lineup features a dynamic selection of musical artists to Killington,” says Amy Morrison, Marketing and Events Coordinator for the Town of Killington.  “Our slate of artists represents a variety of genres and offers something for everyone. “

The concerts, held Saturdays beginning at 3:30 pm at Snowshed Base Lodge, feature Long Trail beer tastings along with, lawn games and outdoor fun; plus all in attendance will have the chance to win a 2015-2016 Killington season pass.  Concert goers are encouraged to come early to enjoy the new Snowshed Adventure Center, and enjoy a dinner after the show along Killington Road.

The lineup is as follows:

July 18 – Dirty Dozen Brass Band: A crowd favorite, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band ensemble has revolutionized the New Orleans brass band style by incorporating funk and bebop into traditional New Orleans jazz and blues.

July 25 – Bim Skala Bim: With an infectious “Boston Blue Beat” sound Bim Skala Bim was one of the premier bands kickstarting the Third Wave of Ska in the 1980s. One of the world’s longest-running independent bands with over twenty five years of touring and recording, Bim Skala Bim has released 9 highly acclaimed albums

August 8 – Donavon Frankenreiter: Donavon Frankenreiter’s blissful soft rock music emanates from his California roots and surfing career.  A protégé of Jack Johnson, Frankenreiter has produced nine albums since his musical career began in 2000 and his most recent release, Start Livin, was released in 2012.

August 15 – John King: In a musical landscape filled with overnight YouTube sensations and people being famous, for being famous, there is something very refreshing and trustworthy about an artist who counts by the number of miles on his tires, rather than the number of “likes” to keep him in the game. Singer/songwriter John King blends the stylistic qualities of Southern Rock and Country.

August 22 – Entrain: Entrain has released seven albums, all of which have been praised for their ability to shift effortlessly between musical styles – from rock, blues, calypso and ska, to zydeco, jazz and funk – often within the same song.

August 29 – Live at the FillmoreLive at the Fillmore (LATF) is the definitive concert tribute to the Allman Brothers Band.  Musically and sonically, LATF creates the experience of hearing one of the greatest live bands of all times.

September 5 – Santa Mamba: Santa Mamba is best described as a mix-up of musical styles and personalities. Rock, salsa, reggaeton, funk, bachata, disco, bolero…all these elements can be found in Santa Mamba’s Latin Rock sounds.  Santa Mamba’s performances are so enjoyable because of the band’s emphasis on creating an experience for their audience.

The Cooler in the Mountains summer concert series is produced by the Town of Killington, presented by Long Trail Brewing, and hosted at Killington Resort.  Key sponsors of the series include Farrell Distributing, Casella Waste Management, and Catamount Radio.  More information on the shows as well as other upcoming summer events and offers can be found at DiscoverKillington.com or Facebook.com/DiscoverKillington.
