Baseball goes back to 1869, and Budweiser 1876, two long time traditions that once again join up as opening day gets closer. We are passionate about baseball here in Vermont, and making sure our retail partners have cold beer to sell, in stock and ready to go is serious business to us here at FDC. Our local history is rich in regards to the game. Home to the Vermont Lake Monsters , a single A Short-Season Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. The Vermont Lake Monsters play at historic Centennial Field, which is one of the oldest ballparks in professional use. Each summer, nearly 100,000 fans come through the gates to cheer on the team and laugh at the crazy antics of the team’s mascot, Champ! The team is affiliated with the Oakland Athletics and won recently won the Stedler Division Championship in 2011. Hard to find a fan of the A’s around these parts, but we love our local team and flock to Centennial Field on game nights.

On the bigger stage hard to say whether the Red Sox or the Yankees pull in more cheers at pubs and taverns across the Green Mountains. If I were a betting man I would say the Sox, but I say that cautiously. I love the game in general and this time of year, Baseball season brings a new energy to this state, Spring is here and we are ready for the warm weather.

As we close the ski and ride season, we are focused on our national pastime, Baseball! Watching from home with some Buds, or at your favorite watering hole, it’s great to have it back in season. I hope to see you out and about enjoying the games with a cold beer in hand sometime. Check out our calendar throughout the season for where we will be enjoying a cold one across the state cheering loud and proud..
