Madi Holtzman of Toast Ale USA joins this episode of It’s the Beer Talking to talk about the importance of fighting food waste on a global scale… with beer.

Toast Ale uses surplus bread that otherwise would have ended up in the landfill to make craft beer.

Founded in London, England in January 2016 by food waste activist and environmentalist Tristram Stuart, Toast Ale has been busy brewing and bottling their ale in the UK, saving two tons of bread waste over the past year.

And the best part? 100% of profits from Toast Ale go to Feedback Global and other charities working to fight food waste.

This year, Toast Ale plans to expand to the U.S. by brewing in New York City. How can you get your hands on some Toast Ale in the U.S.? By supporting their Indiegogo campaign and claiming some 6-packs for yourself.

Toast Ale USA will be on draft and in cans in New York City this summer and will be available at Whole Foods in New York City during the month of July.

What’s in the Fridge:

This week, hosts Jeff Baker and Jason Strempek try two pilsners: Hera Pils from Fort Hill Brewery in Easthampton Ma. and Brau Pils from DC Brau Brewing Co. in Washington Dc.

About the guest:

Madi Holtzman is a student in NYU’s Food Studies program and is bringing Toast Ale to the US with an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign
