Our Beer Scene
What a great time of year to talk about Craft Beer and Spring as we kick off American Craft Beer Week, a wonderful week long celebration of what makes our beer scene great. None more so than right here in Vermont! We have events booked, tap lines ready to enjoy, and tons of people ready to visit the Green Mountains. As Craftbeer.com says “The United States is now home to more than 3,400 small and independent craft brewers and Americans’ interest and excitement for craft beer is at historic levels. What better way to toast the burgeoning craft beer culture than to celebrate the 10th American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), May 11-17.” All our activity can be seen here with more being added each day. http://www.farrelldistributing.com/blog/events-calendar/2015-06
In Vermont, our intense enthusiasm for locally made beer is a daily conversation in all corners of the state. You do not have to be “in” the business to feel the real emotion that this topic stirs, and for good reason! Our beer culture is unlike any other, especially since we have more breweries per ca pita than any other state, now that’s read dedication…
Folks will wait in line for hours to get a taste of what Vermont does best, brewing beer, and they do it with smiles. They pack the car with a few friends, some good tunes (my choice would be Phish 94 The Bomb Factory) and drive up here with full intention of spending all the money in their pockets, on our world class made in Vermont beer, and I certainly don’t blame them.
We take Made in Vermont very seriously. For more than three-quarters of a century, we have been bringing the highest quality beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages to retailers throughout Vermont, catering to customers large and small. A third-generation Vermont family business, we distribute national, regional, and imported beers, along with 25 “Made in Vermont” brands. We have deep ties to our state and are committed to supporting the people and communities around us. We work in partnership with local organizations to raise funds for many causes – from events at our local hospital to benefits for the Vermont Foodbank to emergency needs such as disaster relief. We also sponsor charitable events on a regular basis. But at the root of what we do is simple, provide exceptional service, value and variety to our retail partners while showcasing our partners at all times to the ever growing consumer base of the beverages that we provide. http://www.farrelldistributing.com/products/made-in-vermont
The Vermont Brewers Festival in July is a wonderful example of what this industry means to our state. Thousands of people flock to the waterfront in Burlington to get a taste and maybe have the chance to meet the maker. You do not have to go far to find other festivals that have been established, and some that are newer to the scene, all promoting our breweries. Having the pleasure of attending most of them representing our partners. I love seeing the perfect blend of my fellow Vermonters and out of state plates from all over the country. Our out of state friends eat here, book rooms here, and explore the state all because of our beer scene. We know it’s the best in the world, and each year, we make more friends because of that.
I truly hope to see you all out and about enjoying the spring weather over a pint enjoying our amazing brewing culture we have across the 802. To all those Vermonter’s and visitors from neighboring areas who patiently wait in line each week across the state for a new release or a classic favorite, we appreciate your passion and dedication! Cheers to American Craft Beer Week.
