COOLER IN THE MOUNTAINS SUMMER CONCERT SET TO RETURN

 

178940_10150876319820629_681534142_nKillington, VT-Cooler in the Mountains is produced by the Town of Killington, presented by Long Trail Brewing, and hosted at Killington Resort. Key sponsors of the series include Farrell Distributing, Casella Waste Management and Catamount Radio. This summer’s series will feature the nationally-acclaimed ten-piece band Changes in Latitudes, slated to perform on August 16th, bringing beach balls, leis, and an entire beach party, fun for all ages, to the base of Vermont’s second highest peak.

 

The six-week concert series kicks off on Saturday July 26th, with performances scheduled every consecutive Saturday afternoon through August 30th.   The concerts, held Saturdays from 3:30 to 6:00 pm at Killington Resort’s Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars feature lawn games and outdoor fun. Plus all in attendance will have the chance to win a 2014-2015 Killington season pass.  Guests are encouraged to come early to enjoy the atmosphere or summer activities, and enjoy a dinner after the show along Killington Road.

 

The concert series rounds out a very busy summer calendar of events, and as in past years, concerts have been scheduled to compliment and coincide with other special events taking place in Killington.  Major events coordinated alongside the weekly shows include:

 

Last summer’s lineup featured headliners Martin Sexton and Donavon Frankenreiter, and attracted over 6,000 people to Killington Resort’s Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars. Now in its fifth year, the Town expects the series to draw an even larger audience each show.  Additional musical acts will be announced soon.

July 26 – Hot Day at the Zoo: New England’s genre-bending American roots string band, Hot Day at the Zoo, is spreading their ‘zoograss’ sound nationwide.  The high-energy quartet mixes folk, blues, ragtime and jazz wit progressive bluegrass and Americana-infused rock and roll.  Country musician Dan Evans (Biggest Loser Season 5 contestant) will join Hot Day at the Zoo as a special opening act.

August 2 – Santa Mamba:  Santa Mamba is best described as a mix-up of musical styles and personalities. Rock, salsa, reggaeton, funk, bachata, disco, bolero…all these elements can be found in Santa Mamba’s Latin Rock sounds.  Santa Mamba’s performances are so enjoyable because of the band’s emphasis on creating an experience for their audience. As they stated, their “chief goal is to get the whole world dancing.”

August 9 – Entrain: Entrain has released seven albums, all of which have been praised for their ability to shift effortlessly between musical styles – from rock, blues, calypso and ska, to zydeco, jazz and funk – often within the same song.

August 16 – Changes in Latitudes: Changes in Latitudes is the country’s premier tribute show to the Mayor of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett.  This nationally acclaimed band travels the country with beach balls and leis flying, dancing conga lines, and “Trop Rock” fun for all.  It’s the ultimate beach party that’s fun for all ages.

August 30 – Live at the FillmoreLive at the Fillmore (LATF) is the definitive concert tribute to the Allman Brothers Band.  Musically and sonically, LATF creates the experience of hearing one of the greatest live bands of all times.
